A special edition of Hybrid Theory was released March 11, 2002, a year and a half after its original pressing. Recorded at NRG Recordings in North Hollywood, California, and produced by Don Gilmore, the album’s lyrical themes deal with problems lead vocalist Chester Bennington experienced during his adolescence, including drug abuse and the constant fighting and divorce of his parents. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards.

The "hybrid" in question is the overly familiar one of rap and metal, to which the group has little new to add. The Grammy-winning multi-platinum rock band with lead vocalist Chester Bennington has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide.The band's current lineup comprises vocalist/rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave Farrell, DJ/turntablist Joe Hahn and drummer Rob Bourdon, all of whom are founding members.

Regardless, the vinyl sounds pretty damn good, and lacks only a bit more punch and tighter bass to be a full five stars.
