About this deal

As with many Warhammer 40k Chaos factions, we’d better start at the beginning with Thousand Sons lore – you’ve got to understand how it started before we see how it’s going… But the other 8 are standard Chaos Space Marines? it;s hard to tell at such low resoltion. This could be a photo error when they grouped the models.

Melee Combat. Chaos Space Marines are generally pretty good when it comes to melee combat. They have a ton of great units that excel at roughing up enemies in close combat, such as the Lord Discordant, Possessed, Chosen, and Terminators. It’s very easy to build a Chaos Space Marine army that can wreak absolute havoc once it reaches the enemy. Chaos Bikers lose 2” of Movement (down to 12”), but keep T5 and 3 wounds. They can leave the battlefield at the end of your opponent’s turn and go into Strategic Reserves, which is pretty neat. Otherwise, they’re a bunch of combi-bolter-and-chainsword marines. Terminator Kit – This one is similar in price, fits the theme with the Chaos Lord but has two issues – the kit is old and they are infantry. As you saw in the video both kits were indeed the full sprues – Games Workshop did NOT cut any corners either. This was a pleasant surprise for both of us. I was also surprised by the transfer sheets – you actually get two of them. I know not everyone uses transfers (because they can be a pain) but it was nice to see Games Workshop had enough sheets to support any Chaos Marine Army you wanted to make. The Chaos Space Marines army rules in 10th edition are simple. Whenever you fight or shoot with a Chaos Space Marines unit, you can choose for the unit togain one of two weapon abilities, eitherSustained Hits or Lethal Hits. Both abilities grant you a bonus when you score a critical to-hit roll (usually on a natural six); Sustained Hits grants you an additional hit, and Lethal Hits inflicts an automatic wound.

Chaos Space Marines 10th edition rules

The Chaos Space Marines included in Shadowspear have the same rules as the current Chaos Space Marines, but Shadowspear includes some new miniatures to represent he Daemonkin. Their rules in the codex list the equipment that these miniatures are armed with, but they are interchangeable with any Chaos Space Marines you own and can be added into your own force.

You can read more about competitive play and lists in our article Start Competing: Chaos Space Marines. …Want to Go More Casual Once upon a time, Lucius was simply a legionnaire of the Emperor’s Children who was exceptionally devoted to mastering the blade. This desire for perfection is common in many of this legion, but Lucius took it to extremes. The Maulerfiend – I think this was probably a close second when it came down to choices. It’s a new kit, lots of options, unique to Chaos and looks awesome. But it’s price point was probably a tad too high. I’m not going to sugarcoat it – if you’re playing Chaos Space Marines, you’re playing The Bad Guys. Not like the morally ambiguous, could-be-seen-as-the-heroes-depending-on-your-point-of-view bad guys but the Capital V, mustache-twirling villains of the setting. But the upside is that you have some extremely rad models, some cool powers, and look – as the saying goes: “Evil will always win because good is lame.” Army Strengths Liber Hereticus is your Undivided choice. This gives you both Lethal Hits and Sustained Hits 1 when you make a Dark Pact, rather than choosing one. This isn’t flashy, but is useful. Chaos Space Marines (8 w/bolter or bolt pistol + chainsword, 1 champion, 1 melta/flamer/plasma, 1 heavy bolter/missile launcher)

The Master of Executions is the other double-attach character, and he’s got a nasty S7 AP-2 2-damage axe with PRECISION and DEVASTATING WOUNDS. The units he leads re-roll hit rolls against units below starting strength and re-roll wound rolls against units below half strength. Also a solid add. He can get you extra CP by killing characters. If anyone here remembers Warhammer Conquest and it’s premium subscription. you may remember how disapointed fans were to recieve what was essentially 4 cardboard boxes and some dice. The Traitor Enforcer is another command squad unit, able to join units of Traitor Guardsmen. The Enforcer gets a 4+ feel no pain while the Ogryn is alive and while he’s leading the unit they can use Insane Bravery for free. Well, “free” – it costs you one bodyguard model every time it happens. Abaddon the Despoiler– the Warmaster is still a great unit with some good abilities and while he’s not the invincible midtable machine he was there are still good reasons to include him in your army. Possessed – these guys are absolute murder blenders, capable of mixing speed with insane damage output. That you can give them DEVASTATING WOUNDS is huge, since it often means a 5-model unit is going to be able to throw out 4-6 mortal wounds when they swing on relatively average dice. Fellgor Beastmen , fresh from the Gallowfall Kill Team box, are an intriguing choice for CSM players. Their damage output and durability isn’t impressive, but with Scouts 6” and +2” to their charge rolls when charging units on objective, they have some utility.
