About this deal

craig green (see more here) has recently unveiled a foretaste of his footwear autumn/winter 2022 campaign, grabbing the public’s eye. bolted-in or inflatable accents combined with vivid colors — resembling flotation devices — mark the latest manifestation in collaboration with adidas. however, one can confirm this collaboration, only by noticing the characteristic dots of adidas that pierced the shoe in three rows from each side, as well as through the brand’s logo stamped on the front of the inflated shoe.

In 1983 a company by the name of the Aero Shoe corporation advertised a running shoe with adjustable air in the midsole. The company would only last 5 years and the pump looked somewhat like a turkey baster but there was no denying that the company was one of if not thee earliest modern interpreter’s of the original Pneumatic Insole. Neon colors ornate UV-Zhu’s designs. A strip of purple and green mesh with gray, or a flush of pink and yellow against caramel. They amplify the fun and vibrant vibes the shoes exude. But no matter what the color combination is, the chunkiness of the shoes may steal the limelight at a first glance. The inflated soles add inches to the wearer’s height, making them appear floating off the ground. They might as well test the shoes out in the water just to see if they will float! although it may seem paradoxical, adidas classic sneaker ‘stan smith’ is the protagonist of this footwearseries. british fashion designer craig green pushed the boundaries in a collaboration with adidasfor his autumn/winter ’22 collection. the shoes come in all sorts of bizarre looks, accompanied by breathing tubes, inflatables, screws, or even DIY mold aesthetics. not to mention, the result takes on a rather futuristic approach, which will definitely catch your attention.Inflatable floaters are not exclusive to swimming and diving anymore as designer UV-Zhu toys with them for his conceptual shoes When it comes to cutting-edge athletic footwear, Reebok and its competitors - Nike being the most prominent among them - have been at the forefront of industry-shaking innovations that literally change the way people wear (and buy) sneakers. But few innovations have caused a stir quite like the Reebok Pump. On its way to becoming a veritable game-changer, the Pump - introduced at the tail-end of the 1980s - featured technologies that many brands, including arch-rival Nike, had been tiptoeing around for years.

Another series UV-Zhu introduced is the AIR anthology where the designer discloses that he made the shoes by inflating them. He also shares that there is no functional or practical value involved in these designs and that they act as an exploration of forms and abstracts meant to be artistic and ornamental. The inflated shoes have a bit of a spring to them, making each step feel like you’re literally bounding from step to step. Inflatable floaters are not exclusive to swimming and diving anymore as designer UV-Zhu toys with them for his conceptual shoes . He inflates the mini-floaters, transforms them into his designs’ soles, and, at times, fills them up with candies to satiate one’s sweet tooth when they are out on the road. Playful, zesty, and spongy, these shoes refashion the fashion statement by turning accessories into works of art that serve their purpose to just please the eyes. The future of fashion design and technology seems to be looking more unwearable every day, and the entrance of UV-Zhu’s inflatable shoe designs testifies to that. Before, designboom underlined his collection inspired by mutated creatures. Recently, he deconstructed and published his NIKE concept shoes and series where he layered his creations with daily objects, coupled with his inflatable structures in the art of shoemaking. His ankle straps are made from white garters and silicone and paper-based tapes. He injects springs into the outsoles to catapult the user as they walk without exerting any effort to lift their feet. In 1991 Spalding hired Design Continuum Inc. (the same company that worked with Reebok) to help them design an inflatable baseball glove that went by the name Air Flex -interestingly enough Mizuno had a similar glove called the AirFit-. Apparently the glove used the same technology used in Reebok’s shoes and the result was a lawsuit.

Since the shoes are so big, they'll be perfect for kicking around giant inflatable soccer balls! You just have to make sure you have giant goals as well for the ball to go into!

Reebok however would go on to follow up 1989’s basketball pump with a historic lineup of inflatable shoes across all sport categories over the years to come as well as a memorable ad campaign that put Reebok head to head with Nike. to Dee Brown pumping up his Omni Zone II on tv during the 1991 slam dunk contest (for which he won) As the designer shares, some of his conceptual shoes have a soft texture and a puffy size while the others appear to resemble mutated creatures through their spikes and jelly-like tentacles. ‘I do not think shoes have to be practical. They can also stand alone as pieces of art,’ he shares. Just by looking at his creations, it might be a sin not to try wearing his shoes.

Sponges and soft paddings are sandwiched in the middle of the shoes, adding some comfortable support for the feet. In one of the shoe ideas, UV-Zhu replaces the sponge with an inflatable filled with candies and the outsole with cotton buds-looking bristles. The designer destroys, reassembles, and recycles already-made shoes, a dive into his creativity and a personal analysis of how shoe designs can develop.

You ca get the giant boots in a ton of different color options to choose from!

Fresh of securing a patent for some of the Tech related to the Pump technology Reebok went after one of the largest footwear companies of the day L.A. Gear who was using similar technology in shoes like their Regulator line. Eventually L.A. Gear settled for 1 Million dollars an a licensing agreement allowing for them to use the pump technology in shoes that “borrowed” design characteristics from just about every major brand of the day.
